To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, Leave No Trace has partnered with the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management to launch a national campaign centred on the importance of caring for public lands.
The campaign encourages young people, families, educators, and outdoor enthusiasts to celebrate America’s parks, forests, and open spaces and learn Leave No Trace practices.
“America’s parks and protected areas are truly remarkable, and a tremendous source of national pride,” said Dana Watts, the executive director of Leave No Trace.
“I’m excited to release these free new resources to celebrate our national tradition of responsible recreation, and I’m especially happy that we can offer new, kid-friendly materials just as many families are planning summer hiking, camping, and other outdoor adventures.”

In 2026, Leave No Trace hopes to provide online learning experiences for more than 25,000 individuals, with most of the classes available at no cost to participants. The classes are available in multiple languages and are proving popular with outdoor enthusiasts around the globe.
