New books to look out for

If you’re an avid walker and looking for the latest reads, here’s our list of upcoming books being published.

Cicerone Press is well known for its travel guides, and the company is constantly adding new titles to its range. It has 16 new titles coming up in the next three months: Walking in the Picos de Europa; Walking on the Isle of Man; Walking the Severn Way; Walking St. Oswald’s Way and Northumberland Coast Path; Trekking Italy’s Grande Traversata Delle Alpi; Walking the South Downs Way; Trekking in Austria’s Zillertal Alps; Walking on Guernsey; Walking the End to End Trail; Walking on Arran; Trekking the Swiss Via Alpina; Walking The Ribble Way; Trekking Austria’s Adlerweg; Trekking the GR10; Walking in London Park, Heath and Waterside; and Walking Hadrian’s Wall Path.

Walking the Wharfe: An ode to a Yorkshire river, is scheduled for publication by Bradt Travel Guides in August.

Trailblazer Guide Books is publishing the sixth edition of its guide on the Pennine Way in May, which includes plans, places to stay, places to eat, 138 maps and information on 57 towns and villages along the route.

Wild Atlantic Women – Walking Ireland’s West Coast, by Gráinne Lyons, is also published in May, by Irish company New Island.  The 256-page book sees Lyons travelling Ireland’s west coast on foot with the goal of walking in the footsteps of 11 pioneering Irish women deeply rooted in the coastal landscape, exploring their lives and work along the way.
