A new walking festival for South Kesteven is appealing to community groups to send in their favourite walks.
The event will run for two weeks from April 11th and so far includes a time travel walk for families and walking theatre for all ages.
The organiser, South Kesteven District Council, hopes to include something for everyone and is calling on local groups to step forward with their own organised walks.
Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, Cllr Paul Stokes, who is also SKDC’s deputy leader, said: “To help build a successful festival for the entire district, we are looking for community groups to take part and run local walks tailored to their own area.
“We are already working with Lincolnshire Co-op as well as the Rhubarb Theatre team to form a bespoke family-friendly history walk in Bourne. We also expect to include some airfield trails, canal walks, urban walking and woodland events. It’s a great opportunity to advertise your community group or outdoor business to new audiences by stepping up to support these events. Everything will be brought together under one banner to create an exciting festival which showcases the walks and some of the community groups our beautiful district has to offer.”
A full programme will be published ahead of the event.
There is an application form for walking ideas. Questions should be emailed to Sally.Bird@southkesteven.gov.uk
Alongside community-led walks, a walking theatre company will be running performances during the first weekend of the Festival (April 11th and 12th), and a family-friendly walk history walk will take place in Bourne hosted by Rhubarb Theatre.
