Hertfordshire County Council, in collaboration with Watford Borough Council, has completed the first in a series of planned improvements to the Watford Green Loop at Thomas Sawyer Way.

The project is part of wider plans to improve accessibility across the town.

The latest works on Thomas Sawyer Way significantly enhance access to Oxhey Park.

The Watford Green Loop is a 6.5‑mile walking and cycling route connecting major destinations with open green spaces across Watford. As part of ongoing improvements to this route, a new signalised crossing designed for people walking, wheeling, or cycling has now been installed on Thomas Sawyer Way.

The new crossing makes the junction with Dalton Way safer and easier to navigate, allowing users to cross the road via new traffic signals. Previously, people had to wait on an island in the centre of a busy road.

In addition to the upgraded crossing, the project has delivered resurfacing of the road and widened shared‑use paths, improving comfort and accessibility for all users.
