Ross-on-Wye, in Herefordshire, is an accredited Walkers are Welcome town, and it’s already set for its walking festival, which takes place from September 27-29.
Organisers say they have planned a variety of gentle to medium walks aimed at all abilities – led by informed and enthusiastic people with local knowledge.
Some walks have themes or activities, while others just explore the natural beauty around the town.
There are 28 walks over the three days, nine on Friday and Sunday, and 10 on the Saturday. Nine of the walks are dog friendly. The distances vary from two to 10 miles, and there are walks dedicated to flowers, birds, history, geology, fossil hunting, farming, steam trains, arts and crafts, and a sculpture trail.
The programme is already available for booking here.
