The Keighley Walking Festival is back for 2025, from 13 to 27 September.

In 2024, there were more than 40 guided walks, with participation of hundreds of people from Keighley and the surrounding areas.

Organisers are looking for groups and organisations to take part in this year’s festival. Funding is available.

Group or organisations interested in hosting a guided walk can fill in an online survey to participate.

Themes could include a fundraising walk, a litter picking walk or to promote a specific area. This is not restricted to Keighley.

Groups are required to have a suitable walk leader (walk leader training will be offered – dates to be confirmed), produce a risk assessment for the walk and route, and provide proof of public liability insurance.

Walk leaders/organisations are responsible for the safety of participants on the walk, and £100 in funding is available per walk.

Groups can choose to use a booking system for their guided walk, but it is to be managed by the group.

Festival organisers will promote the festival and walks extensively, but they stressed that walks also promoted by the group leading the walk were generally even more well attended.

A launch event is planned for September 13. Participating groups can attend with a stall and/or activity.

The deadline for submission of a walk and the relevant documentation is Friday, 16 May.
