The European Mountaineering Association (EUMA) and the European Hiking Federation (ERA), in a close cooperation with the Club Alpino Italiano (CAI) in Italy, are organising the 4th European Trails and Paths Conference.
The conference will take place in Macugnaga, Italy, from October 9 to 12.
Organisers are inviting experts, trail managers, researchers, and stakeholders to contribute to conference.
Abstracts are currently being accepted for presentations related to the conference’s key themes. The first is ‘Digitization & Digitalization,’ using digital tools for sustainable trail management and public access.
The second key theme is ‘Overtourism,’ with organisers looking to innovative solutions to protect nature while at the same time enhancing visitor experiences.
Another area of discussion will be the Common Trail Framework; working towards a shared European understanding of trails for improved recognition and funding.
