Midcoast Trails Stewardship (MTS) is inviting Mainers, visitors to Maine, and all who appreciate the opportunity to get out in the woods on trails to take advantage of Double the Dirt, a special campaign that increases the power of every donation.

Over the course of the campaign, contributions will be matched dollar-for-dollar thanks to a group of anonymous donors.  The first matching opportunity begins June 16, where donations made on https://www.midcoasttrails.org/donate will be matched up to $50,000.  The campaign will remain open until MTS leverages its committed matching dollars to achieve the objective of raising $100,000.

The matching opportunities provide critical funding for MTS to maintain, rehabilitate, and build many more miles of trail in the Midcoast region of Maine.

“The ability to access and appreciate the incredible natural beauty in the midcoast is made possible through an extensive network of existing multi-use trails.  Having sufficient capacity to ensure those trails are well maintained and sustainably built is core to our mission,” said Andrew Dailey, MTS board member and co-owner of Sidecountry Sports in Rockland, ME.

“This is only possible with the remarkable generosity of all of our donors, for which we are deeply thankful.”

Maine’s trails offering recreational opportunities for physical health, socially connecting people to their community and nature, and contributing to the local economy. However, as the popularity of these trails grows, so does the need for proper trail stewardship. All donations will directly benefit the health of local trails.
