British outdoor brand Rab has launched the next generation of the Microlight.
Since its introduction in 2008, the Microlight has been designed to be used intensively, repaired when needed, and worn season after season. In 2020, Rab transitioned the collection to 100% recycled down, recycled outer fabric, and recycled nylon lining, without compromising warmth, durability, or comfort. Since autumn/winter 2024, the product family has also been fully PFAS-compliant, meeting regulatory requirements ahead of their introduction.
Microlight Alpine Hoody
The redesigned Microlight Alpine Hoody remains at the heart of the range. Combining 700FP 100% recycled hydrophobic down with lightweight Pertex Quantum featuring NetPlus yarns made from 100% recycled fishing nets, it delivers warmth. Zoned micro and nano baffle construction maximises loft and heat retention without unnecessary bulk. Options available include a non-hooded jacket and a vest.
Microlighter: Active warmth for moving light
The new Microlighterfeatures breathable, 75% recycled TXdown down-infused sheet insulation with lightweight Pertex Quantum featuring NetPlus yarns made from 100% recycled fishing nets, providing lightweight warmth for hiking, climbing, and mountain pursuits. Packable and versatile, it is built for changing activity levels and conditions. Options available include a hooded and a non-hooded version.
Microlight Shield: The first waterproof Microlight
The Microlight Shield is the first waterproof iteration of the Microlight and combines a 2-layer Pertex Shield waterproof outer with 100% recycled 700FP down insulation, delivering warmth and weather protection in a single garment for cold, wet winter conditions.
Microlight X: Maximum performance, minimum weight
Designed for climbers and alpinists, the limited-edition Microlight X pairs lightweight ripstop fabric with 800FP down, creating the most technically advanced Microlight for fast-moving and weight-conscious mountain objectives.
A key update is the introduction of Pertex Quantum with NetPlus across the Microlight Alpine Hoody, the Microlight Jacket, the Microlight Vest and the Microlighter styles. Rab incorporate more than 363,000 metres of fabric made with NetPlus in their AW26 products, repurposing over 22 tonnes of discarded fishing nets while maintaining the performance expected from technical mountain equipment.
