Women’s walking gathers momentum

A Bromsgrove-based walking group is bringing women together by creating a safe, welcoming space for connection and conversation.

Gather and Grow started in February 2024 as a “walk and talk” group for women, with the aim of tackling loneliness and offering a place where individuals could connect and feel heard. Since then, it has grown into a supportive community shaped by the needs of its members.

Alongside its regular weekly walks, the group now offers activities including meditation sessions, craft nights, family walks, clothes swaps, and mental health training events. Members also attended the Orbit Wellbeing Festival.

The group actively supports local businesses through its events, helping to maintain a strong sense of local connection.

Siobhan Crowther, co-founder of Gather and Grow, said: “Gather and Grow was created from a simple idea, to make sure no woman feels alone. It’s grown into a space where women can show up as they are, reconnect with themselves, and feel genuinely supported. That sense of belonging is at the heart of everything we do.”

In 2024, Gather and Grow received a grant from Worcestershire County Council and more recently, was supported in being listed on the council’s Community Services Directory, helping more women discover the group and access its support network.

Gather and Grow encourages women to feel comfortable being themselves, build confidence, and form meaningful connections in an inclusive and understanding environment, and welcomes new members. Find out more about the group by searching Gather and Grow on Facebook or Instagram.
