Two new walking guidebooks are available from the Enfield Society.
There is a newly-updated map of the borough’s footpaths, as well as a guide to the Salmons Brook Trail. Both can be ordered online.
The eighth edition of the map includes a borough orbital footpath, which forms a complete ring around the borough. It is made up of rights of way and permissive paths.
On the reverse of the map are details of more than 20 footpaths, and descriptions of nine suggested local walks.
The Salmons Brook Trail book, written by Colin Saunders, is a 76-page guide describing the 11.4-mile route across Enfield from Hadley Wood in the west via Enfield Chase to Meridian Water in the east, which describes not only the walk, but also the history of notable places of interest on the way.
Saunders has previously written guides to the Pymmes Brook Trail, Capital Ring and London Loop.
