Bradt is publishing a new guidebook in October covering the Dalmatian coast of Croatia.
Croatia: Dalmatian Coast brings together the knowledge of two authors: Piers Letcher, who wrote Bradt’s guides to Croatia and Dubrovnik; and Jane Foster, a Dalmatia resident for almost two decades.
While an overall guidebook, it does cover hiking. Included in detail are the UNESCO-listed port cities of Dubrovnik, Split and Zadar; culture, wineries and hiking; and watersports and adventure activities, in a dedicated section. It offers local insights into where best to stay and eat, and what to see and do in the southeast European enclave, as well as some interesting facts.
Movie tourism is also big, and Dalmatia has become a popular film location, providing backdrops to Game of Thrones, Mamma Mia II, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, McMafia and Succession.
Letcher said: “Croatia is a highly addictive place, not just for tourism but for what makes any country worth visiting: the people, the unexpected details, the moments of pure wonder. I hope readers of the new guidebook will get as much pleasure from the Dalmatian coast as it’s given me over the years.”
Foster, who first moved to Croatia in 1998, added: “Nowadays, with the ever-increasing problem of overtourism, I try to focus on sustainable projects where possible, such as agrotourism. It has been an honour to take on this new guidebook with Bradt Guides – I’ve always respected Piers Letcher’s writing and his knowledge of history of art, so I hope this new Bradt guide to the Dalmatian Coast will do justice to his original, excellent, Croatia, also published by Bradt.”
Croatia: Dalmatian Coast by Jane Foster & Piers Letcher is published on October 4, 2024, by Bradt Guides. It is a 256-page paperback with a retail price of £16.99.
