Holy Dirt: new book published on the Camino

Brave Healer Productions has released Holy Dirt: A Camino Journey Out of My Mind. Into My Body. Saved by Song, a new book by Molly Lord, who took the trip four years ago.

When the Camino de Santiago whispered its call: come walk 500 miles across the French Pyrenees and northern Spain… she was in her early sixties, lacked foreign travel experience and was walking around nursing 40-year-old injuries. What could go wrong?

Readers of her memoir will find out as she shares her life-changing adventures on the same rigorous journey taken by an estimated half a million people a year. The music that helped her through her pilgrimage can be listened to via QR codes sprinkled throughout the book.

She said: “I returned to the US with the need to process this crazy ride and chose to allow the experience to spill out onto the pages of a memoir, Holy Dirt. The themes of music, rhythm, and magic surprisingly followed me on my 36 days on the trail. On silent foggy mornings, I discovered my favourite tune of all is the sweet rhythmic sound of my boots crunching on the gravel trail.”

Holy Dirt’s title was inspired by a comment made by a friend of Lord’s.

“This is holy dirt. Wrap your whole being in it. Get dirty.”

Instead of a guidebook for those intending to walk the trail, Holy Dirt is an adventure story that offers messages from the trail anyone can use. For instance, any carefully made Camino plan will be turned on its head, watch for angels and be where your feet are.
