As travellers seek more meaningful outdoor experiences, Lonely Planet and AllTrails are joining forces to make it easier to get outside and onto a new trail.

The new partnership brings together Lonely Planet’s destination expertise and AllTrails’ outdoor app to help travellers spend less time comparing options, and more time enjoying the journey itself.

“The best adventures happen when inspiration becomes exploration,” said Nitya Chambers, executive editor at Lonely Planet.

“We’re helping travellers turn their hiking dreams into unforgettable experiences. Together, we’re making it easier to discover incredible trails around the world and focus on what matters most: the experience of being outdoors.”

Whether you are an experienced hiker or want to embrace something new this summer, hikers can now access recommendations that simplify the experience, from inspiration and trip planning to trail completion. At a time when people are increasingly looking to disconnect from daily distractions and reconnect with nature, Lonely Planet and AllTrails share a common goal: help people get from planning to doing.

“Hiking and travel have always gone hand in hand. Nearly half of AllTrails members use our app to get inspired and explore trails more than 250 miles from home,” said Carly Smith Costello, chief business officer at AllTrails.

“Our partnership with Lonely Planet gives travellers access to expert destination advice alongside trusted trail insights from the AllTrails community, so every trip can include outdoor experiences that make it truly memorable.”

The partnership features a co-branded editorial series on LonelyPlanet.com and custom social content designed to connect travellers with their next great trail. Highlights include practical advice for using AllTrails to discover outdoor adventures, recommendations of hikes including in U.S. National Parks, and more great trails around the world inspired by Lonely Planet’s latest book, Where To Go When Hiking.

Each recommended trail pairs AllTrails’ member reviews and on-trail details, like trailhead directions, parking recommendations, and timing tips, with Lonely Planet’s local knowledge on best places to eat, stay, and things to see.
