The Adjara Tourism Department in Georgia is planning a training programme for hiking guides working in the region’s protected areas. The two‑month theoretical and practical course aims to prepare the hiking guides for Adjara’s protected territories and to improve the quality of guiding services.
During the training, participants will study the natural resources, tourism products, trails, services and infrastructure of the Kobuleti Protected Areas, as well as Machakhela, Mtirala and Kintrishi national parks. They will also receive information on Georgia’s protected areas system, environmental legislation, the roles of guides and rangers, safety standards, first aid, tour planning, time management, environmental ethics and visitor management.
In addition to classroom sessions, the programme includes practical field trips to protected areas, as well as to the Batumi and Alpine Botanical Gardens, where participants will become familiar with local biodiversity and tourism opportunities on site.
applicants must know at least one foreign language at B2 level, possess the skills required for guiding, and be physically capable of leading tours in protected areas.
Training will begin in the second half of May and conclude at the end of June.
