It’s a busy time for walking festivals around the UK. The Vale of Glamorgan will be hosting its walking festival event from September 3 to 8.
There are 28 hikes taking place during the event, ranging from 1.5 to 13 miles in length. More information on the event, and booking for the walks, can be found here. Clicking on the text link opens a booking page, while clicking on the photos of each walk downloads a pdf with all of the necessary information about the walk itself, including distance, start point, parking and public transport, contact information, walk length, what to bring, and a description of the walk.
Most walks are not dog friendly, and there is a £5 charge for the hikes.
There are bilingual walks, a book walk, gentle strolls, linear and circular walks, butterfly and history hikes, Barry Island geology, introductions to Nordic walking, and many more.
2024 will be the 15th year of the Vale of Glamorgan Walking Festival, which is organised by volunteers of the charity Valeways.
The Vale of Glamorgan is home to the most southerly point of mainland Wales, and includes a range of towns, legendary villages, castles, parks and gardens. The area includes the Tinkinswood Burial Chamber, which is older than Stonehenge. The coastline includes part of the 14-mile Glamorgan Heritage Coast.
